Man arrested for allegedly assaulting woman who was driving

A Hopkinsville man accused of assaulting a woman who was behind the wheel yesterday was arrested on wanton endangerment charges.

Police arrived at East First and Main just after 2pm and determined that 31-year old Derrick Newman had been in an argument with 41-year old Roxanne Lane—who was driving the vehicle both were in.

Newman reportedly got out to walk, but then got back in and allegedly assaulted Ms. Lane, causing her to lunge into the intersection with Main. No wreck ensued, but Newman was arrested and charged with first degree wanton endangerment and lodged in the Christian County Jail.
