It’s been five-years in the making and Oak Grove officials including state legislators say they are thrilled that progress continues to be made concerning the city’s proposed multi-million Oak Grove Village project.

Congressman Ed Whitfield, Senator Joey Pendleton, Christian County Judge Executive Steve Tribble, Christian County Attorney Mike Foster along with Oak Grove City Council broke ground today at the proposed site where the expansive project will be located, just right across from Fort Campbell’s Gate 7.

Senator Pendleton was the first to remark that even though the site is bare right now, it is a field of dreams that will soon become a reality.

Congressman Whitfield said once the project is complete, it will provide a major economic boost for Oak Grove and will provide thousands of jobs.

Oak Grove Village Project Manager, Lucia Albers also attended today’s event and confirmed that Carmike Cinemas is onboard to bring a 12-screen facility to the proposed project.

Mayor Dan Potter says he is glad that the hard-work of so many people who have worked tirelessly over the years to making the project become a reality is finally paying off.

About 4,000 jobs are expected to be created as a direct result of the Oak Grove Village Project.
