Attorney General Jack Conway announced today that a Christian County man was convicted of having child pornography.
A Christian County jury found former Fort Campbell soldier, 27-year-old Michael Myers of Oak Grove guilty yesterday on 12 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, which is considered to be a Class D felony.
The jury also recommended a sentence of one year per count to run concurrently.
Myers will also be required to register as a sex offender for a period of 20 years.
The case against Myers was the result of an undercover investigation by General Conway’s Cybercrimes Unit in September of 2009.
A Christian County grand jury indicted Myers in January of 2010.
Myers will be sentenced on December 5, 2012.
Since its creation in June of 2008, General Conway’s Cybercrimes Unit has launched nearly 300 child pornography investigations and seized approximately 350,000 child pornographic images and videos from the Internet. **
