| UPDATE: Fire damages Hopkinsville apartment complex |
|
Fire did significant damage to an apartment complex in Hopkinsville this morning. The blaze broke out shortly before 6am at the apartment complex at East 21st and Hazel, with Hopkinsville Fire Department Deputy Chief Eric Bleidt saying no one was injured. City Fire Marshall Cecelia Cloos says initial investigations have not shown any signs of the fire being suspicious.
Deputy Chief Bleidt said flames were showing when the first units arrived.
The Red Cross came and assisted the residents of the eight apartments who were displaced on one of the more chilly mornings of the young fall season. Crews from three city fire stations responded along with the Hopkinsville Police Department. Deputy Chief Bleidt wasn’t immediately sure how many people had been displaced by the fire.
