Rain may have contributed to two wrecks with injury Monday

Rain might have contributed to two wrecks in the city limits of Hopkinsville Monday that injured two people.   

The first accident happened around noon at 9th and Main, thought it wouldn’t be reported until later in the day. The police report says 57-year old Steven Marion of Hopkinsville was on foot and entered the crosswalk. Meanwhile, 69-year old Donald Rogers of Hopkinsville was attempting to make a left turn onto South Main and hit Marion with his right front fender.

Rogers took Marion to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, but both men said they never thought to call police until a nurse at the emergency room called ECC. Marion was treated for a possible knee injury.

The second incident happened around 3:15 near the Pembroke Road-Pennyrile Parkway interchange. The HPD report says 39-year old Lashawnda Redd of Hopkinsville was northbound on Pembroke Road when she had to make an abrupt stop in traffic.

Following behind her was 53-year old Deborah Greenman of Hopkinsville, who wasn’t able to stop in the rainy conditions and rear-ended Ms. Redd’s vehicle. Police say Ms. Redd was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of lower back pain.
