The State Senate is expected to pass the Pill Mill Bill and transportation budget Friday to close the special session and one area lawmaker says the bills are much-needed.
In particular, State Representative Brent Yonts says the Pill Mill Bill will address prescription drug abuse in the commonwealth—something he says has become a growing and deadly epidemic.
Representative Yonts says he’s learned of two deaths related to prescription drug abuse in the last week alone in his home county of Muhlenberg.
Yonts believes giving the Attorney General power to monitor the KASPER prescription computer tracking device and requiring doctors to subscribe will cut down on the issue.
Senate President David Williams has said he expects the session to end Friday with formal passage in the upper chamber. Yonts represents Muhlenberg and portions of Christian and Hopkins Counties.
