Two Madisonville men are accused of stealing thousands of pounds of copper from their employer.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office arrested 35-year old Johnathan Phillips of University Circle and 38-year old Timothy Bryant of Edwards Street yesterday for theft of copper.
Alliance Coal officials told deputies that large amounts of copper were stolen from their mining site and that they received information that two employees were involved in the theft.
The Madisonville Police Department and the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office went to the residence of Phillips and allegedly found about 20,000 pounds of stolen copper in his garage.
Bryant was also charged for allegedly helping Phillips transport the copper to his residence.
