The Oak Grove Fire Department Chief was cited into court yesterday afternoon for allegedly driving around road restrictions at the scene of a wreck in Hopkinsville.
The citation from Hopkinsville Police says there was a wreck with injury at the Pennyrile Parkway-Pembroke Road interchange around 1:30pm and that nails had spilled out of one of the vehicles onto Pembroke Road.
HPD used a marked car with flashing blue lights to close the roadway off while cleanup was done and Sgt. Eric Pacheco writes that 51-year old Oak Grove Fire Chief Gregory Bequette of Clarksville drove around the police car and into the center median to continue toward southbound.
Sgt. Pacheco had the ECC tell Chief Bequette that he needed to speak to police and his response was to reportedly ask “why.”
Chief Bequette was charged with failure to give the right of way to an emergency vehicle and disregarding signals from officers directing traffic. He will appear in Christian District Court April 26th at 9am.
