The Hopkinsville Police Department arrested and charged eight juveniles today for allegedly assaulting a fellow class-mate as part of a gang initiation.
Police say seven out of the eight male juveniles were charged with 4th degree assault, while another male was charged with concealing a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon on school property, in addition to the 4th degree assault charges after police allegedly discovered he brought two knives to school.
According to police, the ages of the male juveniles ranged from 13 years old to 16 years old and all attended Christian County Middle School.
The police department wants to remind local citizens that this type of behavior will not be tolerated.
All eight juveniles were lodged in a juvenile detention center in Paducah/
