Kentucky State Police have arrested a Christian County man accused of shooting his father during a dispute late last night.

The incident happened around 11:17 at 2870 Gospel of Peace Road, according to a news release from KSP, which says 64-year old John C. Patman and 30-year old John L. Patman—who both have a Hopkinsville address—were arguing when the elder Patman attempted to leave.

That’s when the son allegedly fired shots into his father’s vehicle, which reportedly hit him in the neck.

The victim was able to drive himself to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, before being taken by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

John C. Patman was arrested at a nearby residence without incident and charged with 1st degree assault and was lodged in the Christian County Jail.

State Police were assisted by the Christian County Sheriff’s office at the scene and Hopkinsville Police at the hospital.
