City of Hopkinsville payroll collections are up

Tonight’s Hopkinsville City Council meeting was brief, but council members accomplished a lot during the regularly scheduled meeting.

Chief Financial Officer Robert Martin gave council members a positive report concerning the city’s pay roll taxes from the last seven months.
According to Martin, payroll tax collections have increased compared to the same time period last year.

Hopkinsville Mayor Dan Kemp says the payroll collections from the past seven months shows the local economy is improving.

In other business, council members unanimously approved the 2nd reading of several ordinances concerning garbage, trash and weeds, the code enforcement board and disqualifying permits and licenses for delinquent city obligations.
Ward 6 Councilwoman Ann Cherry was absent from tonight’s meeting and Ward 3 Councilman Don Ahart arrived late.
