| Senator Paul holds forum in Elkton |
|
U.S. Senator Rand Paul held an economic development roundtable discussion at the Todd County Board of Education this afternoon and covered a wide variety of topics. Todd County Judge-Executive Darryl Greenfield, Elkton Mayor Nancy Camp, Guthrie Mayor Scott Marshall, Trenton Mayor JoAnn Holder and schools superintendent Mike Kenner were among those in attendance. Mayor Camp said Elkton and Todd County is very much needful for new industries and the jobs they would bring and asked what the federal government can do to bring back jobs lost to other countries. Senator Paul agreed that too many of the nation’s resources are going elsewhere and said the government has to reassess where it’s sending foreign aid and other dollars. The senator also brought up the wars in the middle-east and said he has encouraged the president to continue bringing the troops home from Afghanistan. Todd County education officials got their own separate opportunity to speak with the senator after the economic development event, in the midst of the school system facing painful cuts that will cost some their jobs during this economic recession.
