Despite the pleas of several local parents and educators, who requested the Christian County School Board to renew Superintendent Brady Link’s contract, the school board tonight failed to make a motion to renew his contract.
When the motion was called to approve his contract, none of the school board members made a move.
Following the three-hour school board meeting tonight, Superintendent Link says their inaction took him by surprise.
Christian County Education Coalition Steering Committee member and former school board member Fannie Louise Maddox says tonight’s decision was not in the best interest of students and their decision was an embarrassment.
During Link’s 3 ½ year tenure as Superintendent, the school district has jumped 65 places in the state rankings, putting the school system on the advanced placement district honor roll.
In other school related business, Assistant Superintendent Rim Watson says he plans to retire from his position and expects his last day of employment to be sometime in late June.
Board chair Barry Cornelius says the board hopes to have a new superintendent in place by July 1st.
