Legislative Commission to appeal Judge's ruling
The Legislative Research Commission plans to appeal a circuit judge’s recent ruling on the state legislative redistricting plan.
The LRC reportedly plans to defend the constitutionality of House Bill 1 all the way up to the Kentucky Supreme Court.
According to a news release, the commission will ask the Supreme Court to dissolve the injunction of the Franklin Circuit Court and require legislative districts established by the bill be used for 2012 elections.
As previously reported, House Bill 1 was approved by both chambers of the General Assembly last month and signed into law by Governor Steve Beshear on January 20th.
