Clarksville went over a month without its first fatal wreck of the year, but that came to an end this morning.
CPD Public Information Officer Jim Knoll says a head-on collision at the 1500 block of Madison Street around 7:40 claimed the life of a 20-year old man.
Officer Knoll says a 31-year old male was eastbound on Madison when he crossed the center line for an unknown reason and struck the 20-year old male victim’s pickup head-on.
A 19-year old passenger in the westbound vehicle was life-flighted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and is in extremely critical condition with multiple injuries, while the 31-year old was also taken by helicopter to Vanderbilt and is in stable condition.
A female passenger in the eastbound pickup was treated and released from Gateway Medical Center. Police say the 20-year old who died on the scene and his passenger were not wearing seat belts.
The names of the victim and the injured are being withheld, pending family notification. Madison Street was closed for about four hours while police investigated the scene.
