Divers back in water at collapsed bridge

A dive team was back in the water today analyzing three piers at the Eggner’s Ferry Bridge to see if there has been any type of movement since last Thursday night’s collision and partial collapse.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says it will likely be no earlier than Monday before the divers issue a report on their findings and that’s when they will know a lot more about how to proceed forward with repairs or other options.

Todd says there is no concrete timeline for when residents can expect anything to be done at this point with so many unanswered questions.

A new bridge is in the state road plan, but everyone involved has said it will take several years for that project to be complete.
