Murray State’s Isaiah Cannan was named the Ohio Valley Conference player of the week for the fourth time this season Monday. Canaan averaged 20.5 points a game in wins for the Racers over Morehead State and SIU Edwardsville. Austin Peay junior guard Jerome Clyburn was named co Ohio Valley Conference newcomer of the week Monday. Clyburn averaged 11 points in wins for the Governors at Eastern Illinois and SIU Edwardsville last week. Kentucky is the new number one in both major college basketball polls this week. Murray State moved up to 9th in the ESPN/USA Today poll, while the Racers are 11th in this week’s Associated Press poll. NFL The Tennessee Titans lost one member of their coaching staff, but gained another Monday. The Tennessean reports Keith Millard was hired to be a Titans defensive assistant, while longtime coach Dave McGinnis will reunite with former Titans coach Jeff Fisher in St. Louis as assistant head coach. NHL The Nashville Predators won for the 11th time in the last 13 games Monday night, defeating Columbus 4-1 at Bridgestone Arena.
