| NWS confirms tornado touchdown in Calloway Co. |

The National Weather Service has confirmed it was a tornado that touched down in Calloway County late Sunday night. A survey team determined an EF1 tornado stayed on the ground for 5.6 miles and had peak winds of 95 miles per hour. The twister went from Hazel to about a quarter mile northeast of New Providence. Hundreds of trees were snapped or uprooted and one home had shingle damage and windows blown out. Three barns were damaged, a garage was destroyed and a couple of sheds were leveled. The weather service estimates property damages totaled $50,000. Most importantly, there were no injuries or fatalities in the tornado. |
