Snowfall causes wrecks, closes schools

Snow came as forecast Thursday, causing numerous wrecks and school closings across the region.

Snowfall amounts ranged from less than an inch to about an inch and a half across the area, but it didn’t really matter as plummeting temperatures caused wet roads to freeze over and any remaining snowfall stuck to the pavement.

Numerous wrecks were reported across western Kentucky and middle Tennessee, some with injury. The Highway Department has been out salting the roads, but temperatures falling near or below 20 degrees will cause that process to become less productive.

Nearly every school system in the area, including Christian, has called off classes for Friday. You can find a complete list of closings on our website and listen to the WHOP Family of Stations for updates on this winter weather situation.
