Congressman Ed Whitfield says he will seek a tenth term in office and made it official at a news conference this morning at the Bruce Convention Center.

The Hopkinsville Republican focused much of his speech on the policies of President Barack Obama, which he says are detrimental to the middle class.

Specifically, Congressman Whitfield spoke on the coal industry and said new Environmental Protection Agency regulations will make electricity prices go up if something isn’t done.

He also talked about President Obama’s stimulus packages and explained why he voted ‘no.”

The Congressman thanked first district voters for electing him nine times before and asked for their votes again in 2012.

Whitfield is currently unopposed, with the filing deadline currently set at January 31st.
