Alcohol allegedly involved in Downtown wreck

Alcohol was allegedly involved in the wreck in downtown Hopkinsville yesterday that sent a woman to the hospital and caused traffic problems.

The incident happened around 10:21 at the intersection of East 6th and South Virginia, according to the report from city police, which says 42-year old Laura Olson of Crofton was northbound on South Virginia when she hit a utility pole.

Olson reportedly said she was distracted by talking on her cell phone and allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking crack cocaine prior to driving.

She was charged with her third DUI and blood tests are pending.
