Hopkins Co. wreck injures small child

A single-vehicle wreck on the Western Kentucky Parkway last night injured a small child.

Kentucky State Police say the incident happened around 11:42pm near the 25 mile-marker. 23-year old Rebecca Salkeld of New Albany, Indiana was reportedly westbound when a deer ran into her path.

She swerved to miss the animal and then over-corrected in an attempt to regain control of her vehicle. Ms. Salkeld’s SUV ran off the left side of the roadway and into the median, crossing the eastbound lanes and coming to final rest in a ditch.

Ms. Salkeld and passenger 31-year old Paul Schmidt of State College, Pennsylvania were uninjured—though 3-year old Trinitie Salkeld of New Albany had to be taken to Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
