77-year old man the first DUI arrest for CPD in 2012

As promised, Clarksville Police were out in full force over the New Years weekend and the first person arrested for DUI of the year may not meet your preconceived notions.

A news release from Clarksville Police identifies the first man to be arrested for DUI this year as 77-year old Roy Young, who reportedly told police that he had only drank one beer, but had been smoking marijuana the last couple days when pulled over around 12:30am Sunday.

Young was also allegedly driving on a suspended license. The first DUI wreck of the year in Clarksville happened around 2:45am Sunday, with 24-year old Matthew Ballard of Clarksville cited for DUI at Gateway Medical center after an incident on Tiny Town Road.
