Hopkinsville Police continues effort to collect unwanted pills

The National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators recently launched a successful program to reduce the amount of unwanted or outdated prescription drugs in homes.

According to law enforcement officials, these same drugs have become the target of thefts and misuse that often times land in the hands of teens.

To avoid a disastrous situation, the Hopkinsville Police Department is continuing its effort to collect the unused prescription pills.

Sergeant Scott Mayes says residents can safely dispose unwanted medicine at the police department located at 112 West 1st Street, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The drug drop off was paid for by the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators through a grant program.
