Dawson Springs man charged with murder and DUI

A Dawson Springs man was booked into the Caldwell County Jail this morning and is facing murder charges for allegedly driving while impaired and wrecking his vehicle which claimed the life of his passenger.

In addition to the murder charge, Kentucky State Police charged 25-year old Jeffery Alfred with 2nd offense DUI- aggravated circumstances and leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid or assist.

According to state police, Alfred was driving southbound on KY 672 when he lost control of his truck, causing it to leave the right side of the roadway and hit a tree.

Alfred’s passenger, 28-year old Thomas Redden of Dawson Springs was transported by ambulance to Caldwell County Medical Center, where he succumbed to his severe injuries and was pronounced dead.

The investigation into the fatal wreck remains open and is being handled by Joseph Bartolotti.
