Montgomery County officials finalizing deal with AT&T

Montgomery County officials are finalizing negotiations with AT&T to construct a replacement tower on Highway Drive.

The tower will reportedly house all county backup communications equipment along with National Weather Service equipment.

The Leaf-Chronicle reports the tower will be 280 feet tall and AT&T will be able to lease additional space to other occupants, but the space above 200 feet will only be reserved for county and National Weather Service usage.

According to the Leaf-Chronicle, final negotiations resulted in a 30-year lease with the possibility of a 5 year extension and at the end of lease, the county has the option of owning the tower and will only cost the county the land that the tower will occupy.
