Former Fort Campbell soldier sentenced to 15 years in jail

A former Fort Campbell soldier has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for killing his wife last year.

A panel of military officers convicted 26-year old Robert Jenks of voluntary manslaughter for choking and stabbing his wife, Linzi Jenks at their home located on post in December 2010.

The Kentucky New Era reports his attorney, Dennis Stanford stated his client suffered mental and physical wounds while he was deployed overseas and when his wife physically attacked him during the argument that ended tragically, it provoked his anger and he reacted without thinking.

Jenks also received a bad conduct discharge from the Army and was ordered to forfeit pay and allowances received while he was in jail.
