HFD releases report on Maplewood fire

The official report on yesterday’s house fire on Maplewood Street has been released by the Hopkinsville Fire Department.

The document shows seven trucks and 10 fire-fighters responded to 1822 Maplewood just before 1pm.

The cause of the blaze is listed as “undetermined,” though Deputy Chief Eric Bleidt said a space heater may have been responsible. No one was home at the time of the fire, with crews rescuing a dog that was locked inside.

Approximately $10,000 worth of damage was done to the home and $1,000 to contents, according to the report. The blaze was confined to the master bedroom, but the entire home sustained smoke and heat damage.
