Traveling couple arrested in Hopkinsville on drug charges

A traveling couple was arrested in Hopkinsville Friday night on drug trafficking charges.

Hopkinsville Police Officer Brian Smith was “flagged down” just before 11:30 at the Public Library and told of two individuals who attempted to do drugs at their residence.

Officer Smith later located 26-year old Samuel Baker and 19-year old Rose Payne of Georgia at the Jennie Stuart Medical Center Emergency Room.

Baker, who said he has no address and only travels—despite listing himself as married—was arrested on Trafficking in Marijuana and Tampering With Evidence charges. Payne was charged with the same crimes in addition to Possession of Marijuana and paraphernalia.

Officer Smith writes both were obviously under the influence of some type of substance.
