Victim of I-24 wreck identified

Christian County Deputy Coroner Mike Stokes has released the name of the victim of a fatal wreck on I-24 from this morning.
Stokes identifies the woman as 34-year old Joelle Townsend of Kokomo, Indiana. Ms. Townsend was a Fort Campbell soldier.

State Police say the three-vehicle wreck happened at approximately 8:05 am near the 87 mile-marker when Ms. Towsend was driving an SUV westbound and lost control of her vehicle.

Ms. Towsend crossed the median and struck the rear tires of a tractor-trailer driven by 51-year old Tony Pritchard of Vincennes, Indiana. The collision caused the SUV to spin around and strike the left rear side of a pickup driven by 85-year old Loriston Lovelady of Hopkinsville.

Ms. Towsend, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle upon impact with the tractor-trailer. She was pronounced dead on the scene. Pritchard and Ms. Lovelady went uninjured.
