Chester Leavell
Alcohol was allegedly involved in a three-vehicle wreck at the intersection of East 7th and Lindwood Streets last night that injured two.
The incident happened around 5:30, according to the report from Hopkinsville Police, which says 57-year old Chester Leavell of Hopkinsville was westbound on 7th and turned left into the path of a vehicle driven by 44-year old Curtis Brame of Hopkinsville, causing Brame’s vehicle to collide with Leavell’s car and a vehicle driven by 47-year old Marilyn Covington of Beech Creek, Kentucky—which was stopped at the stop sign on Lindwood.
Leavell, who was the only driver not requiring a trip to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, reportedly had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes.
He reportedly told police he had drank half a pint of whiskey and told officers to take him to jail. Leavell reportedly blew a .162 on the breath test, over twice the legal limit.
Leavell was charged with DUI and driving without insurance.
