The man who was shot in self-defense by a State Trooper in Christian County last Saturday has been released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
A news release from KSP says 29-year old Anthony Burgess of Oak Grove waived extradition and is now in the Christian County Jail. Burgess was shot by Trooper James McArthur on Rosetown Road December 3rd when he allegedly accelerated toward the officer who was on foot in an apparent attempt to run him over.
Burgess kept driving until finally being pulled over on Arthur Henderson Road in Todd County. A helicopter took Burgess from there to Vanderbilt, where he remained for eight days. He is charged with Wanton Endangerment, Attempted Murder of a police officer, 2nd degree Assault and fleeing from police.
