Eddyville native donates thousands to LBL

Christmas came early for members of The Land Between the Lakes Association and Friends of LBL organizations.

The two organizations were the recent recipients of a $61,500 bequest from James T. Ramey of Eddyville.

Ramey was an attorney and nuclear expert who served as counsel for the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission’s Chicago office and shortly after being appointed as a commissioner with the Atomic Energy Commission by President John F. Kennedy, Mr. Ramey played a key role in the critical negotiations that averted nuclear war during the 1962 Cuban missile crisis.

Officials say his thoughtful donation will have a positive impact on thousands, possibly millions of future visitors to Land Between the Lakes.
