A Hopkinsville man was arrested yesterday morning after refusing to let fire-fighters into his apartment where smoke was coming out of a window.

The incident happened at 2907 South Virginia Street just after 11am, where two trucks and 11 fire-fighters responded to the report of smoke. When they arrived, 55-year old Dwight Snorton of the residence allegedly told fire-fighters they couldn’t come in.

Hopkinsville police responded and told Snorton to take the firemen to the source of the smoke, which turned out to be the oven where he had attempted to warm up a pizza still inside its box.

Police also reportedly saw marijuana inside the home in addition to paraphernalia. Snorton was arrested for obstructing governmental operations, disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia and lodged in the Christian County Jail.
