Butler Co. wreck involving deer kills one

A Tuesday night wreck in Butler County involving a deer claimed the life of the driver and sent a child to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.

The incident happened around 7:30pm Tuesday, according to State Police, who say 46-year old Glenda Daugherty of Morgantown was northbound on U.S. 231 and swerved to miss a deer in the road.

She then over-corrected, struck a guardrail face, hit a utility pole and traveled several feet into a field before coming to final rest. Ms. Daugerty was taken by helicopter to Vanderbilt, where she would die from her injuries.

An unidentified juvenile passenger was also taken to Vanderbilt for injuries and 23-year old Terrance Mayhew of Morgantown refused treatment on the scene.
