We now have more details concerning a natural gas leak that caused State Highway 181 to be shut down last night.

According to Todd County Emergency Management Director Tim Pulley, a call was received at 9:06 p.m. About a gas leak and as a precaution the road near the intersection with Ky 171 was shut down.

Emergency Management officials and Firefighters with the Sharon Grove Volunteer Fire Department reportedly attempted to evacuate residents living in 5 nearby homes, but the residents refused to leave and officials opened the road back up around 10:09 p.m.

The Todd County Emergency Management Director says natural gas leaks have occurred previously at the same location and that last night’s gas leak is believed to be more or less a cold weather incident.

Pulley says no one was injured as a result of the natural gas leak and traffic was not backed up as a result of the incident.
