Cavanaugh

Hopkinsville Police have arrested the man they believe is responsible for the robbery of the Kangaroo Mart on Russellville Road early yesterday morning.

Arrested around 7:15am after questioning at the Police Station yesterday was 35-year old Rico Lamont Cavanaugh of Cadiz. Cavanaugh is accused of entering the business around 2am and demanding cash and cigarettes while brandishing a handgun.

Officers chased a vehicle shortly after the robbery, but lost sight of the car. Later in the morning, they found Cavanaugh still wearing most of the same clothes seen in the surveillance footage. His vehicle was later found wrecked.

In addition to the local charges, police also served a warrant on robbery charges for a November 18^th incident in Trigg County when he allegedly robbed a victim of a cell phone.

Cavanaugh is lodged in the Christian County Jail.
