2ND ANNUAL NIGHT OF WORSHIP On Saturday, August 9th, Alpha Alternative is sponsoring its 2nd Annual Night of Worship at the Alhambra Theater. The event starts at 7pm and there is no charge for the event. Throughout the evening, there will Alpha supporters and local youth pastors praying for our city and for the students returning back to school. This night is for adults and students to come together for our city. There will be a love offering taken during the evening, and the proceeds will be used to fund our abstinence education program. ANNUAL HUMMINGBIRD FESTIVAL ======================= Come witness the migration of the ruby-throated hummingbird during the annual Hummingbird Festival at Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area from August 1st to August 3rd, 2008. A large number of hummingbirds stop at LBL on their journey south to Mexico and Central America. The main Hummingbird Festival events take place at the Nature Station. 2008 WESTERN KY. PUMP UP THE VOLUME BLOOD DRIVE =============================== Summer time blood donations drop but demand increases. Donors are needed during the Pump up the Volume Blood Drive. On Wednesday, July 30th and Thursday, July 31st, the Blood Center, located at 1902 South Virginia Street, will be open from 10am to 6pm. On Friday, August 1st the blood drive will be at Jennie Stuart Medical Center, located at 320 West 18th Street from 9am to 5pm. Western Kentucky needs your help. TEACHER APPRECIATION BREAKFAST ================================== The 11th annual Chamber-sponsored Teacher Appreciation Breakfast will be held at 7am on Tuesday, August 5th at the James E. Bruce Convention Center. The keynote speaker will be CCPS Superintendent, Brady Link. More than 700 local educators are expected to attend. Due to space limitations, attendance is limited to event sponsors and educators. The Hopkinsville Beautifications Commission is Seeking Beautifully Landscaped Homes: The Yard of the Month award will recognize the efforts of Hopkinsville residents who take pride in their homes and landscaping and inspire others to do the same. Twelve homes (one home from each ward) will be selected monthly, until October. Winners will receive a certificate, recognition on the city website, and host the Yard of the Month sign for one month (plus bragging rights).
