High School Baseball/Softball: Semi final action in the 2nd region tournaments takes place this evening.
Baseball action has Christian County meeting Caldwell County at 5:30 in Elmer Kelley Stadium in Madisonville, with the Heritage Bank pre game show at 5:15 on News/Talk WHOP and online at whopam.com. The second game has 5th ranked Henderson County meeting Trigg County.
Softball at Lyon County has Livingston Central meeting Union County at 5:30, followed by Madisonville and Henderson County.
Heritage Christian Academy’s baseball and softball teams are hosting games today in the Kentucky Christian Athletic Association state tournament. The top seeded Warriors host in North Hardin Christian in baseball at 4:30, while the 3rd seeded Lady Warriors host Somerset Christian also at 4:30. If both teams win, they advance on to play in semi final action Georgetown later this week.
High School Basketball: Christian County High School has scheduled a 3 pm news conference today concerning the boys’ basketball coach. No other details were sent out in a release late Monday evening from Christian County Public Schools.
ESPN reports Rutgers president Robert Barchi has delivered a vote of confidence for the school’s athletic director hire Julie Hermann. Despite allegations of reported abuse while Hermann coached volleyball at the University of Tennessee, Barchi said in a statement the school picked the best person for the job.
However, if pressure forces Rutgers not to hire Hermann, her former boss at the University of Louisville, athletic director Tom Jurich, says there is a “possibility” she could return there. Hermann had served as senior associate athletics director at U of L before accepting the Rutgers job.
MLB: Interleague action has Cincinnati hosting Cleveland in the finale of a two game series this evening along with St. Louis taking on Kansas City and the Cubs and the White Sox play in Chicago. Atlanta meets Toronto in a matinee game.
NBA: The Eastern Conference finals continue tonight as the Miami Heat will attempt to take a commanding 3-1 series lead in Indiana. The Pacers stole Game 2 in Miami to even the set, but the Heat overwhelmed Indiana in a 114-96 triumph in Game 3 to regain control.
NHL: The defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings will look to keep their bid for a second straight Stanley Cup title alive when they host the San Jose Sharks in the decisive Game 7 of their Western Conference semifinal set this eveni
