College Basketball: The nation’s top high school prospect Andrew Wiggins has selected Kansas as where he will play collegiately next year. Kentucky had also been on the short list along with Florida State and North Carolina. Wiggins made the announcement during a late morning news conference at Huntington Prep in West Virginia. The Canada native averaged 23.4 points and 11.2 rebounds in his senior season at Huntington Prep.
NFL: In an interview with the NFL Network Monday, Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker said his left shoulder is back to normal and that he would definitely be cleared for contact when training camp begins in late July. Locker injured his non throwing shoulder during the 2012 season. Locker also said he could improve in a lot of areas and be more consistent in the 2013 season.
Golf: Former Murray State golfer Mitchell Moore of Hopkinsville shot a 1 under par 70 Monday in local qualifying for the 2013 U.S. Open. Moore was one of three golfers, out of a field of 170, to shoot under par at Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Moore, who is currently employed at The Links at Novadell as a teaching professional, will be making the trip to Memphis, TN for sectional qualifying on June 3rd at Colonial Country Club. The US Open will be played June 9-12 at Merion Golf Club in Philadelphia.
MLB: The Cincinnati Reds open a three game series this evening at the Miami Marlins. Pre game coverage begins at 5:40 on News/Talk WHOP. Other National League action this evening has St. Louis hosting the NY Mets, Atlanta at Arizona and the Chicago Cubs hosting Colorado.
NBA: Two games on the playoff schedule this evening. Eastern Conference action has Indiana meeting New York, where the Pacers lead the series 2-1. Western Conference action has Golden State meeting San Antonio, with the series tied 2-2.
NHL: Two series openers on the playoff schedule this evening. Eastern Conference action has Ottawa at Pittsburgh, Western Conference action has San Jose at the LA Kings.
