Christian County High School senior Dylan Waldrop signed a collegiate letter Wednesday to continue his soccer career. Waldrop will play collegiately for Mid Continent University. Waldrop is the second Colonel player to sign collegiately for next year.
College Basketball: Kentucky’s Mr. Basketball will play collegiately in the Commonwealth, as Madison Central’s Dominque Hawkins announced Wednesday he will play for the University of Kentucky. Hawkins, also Kentucky’s Gatorade Player of the Year, led Madison Central to this year’s state championship and was named tournament MVP. Hawkins turned down offers from several other schools including Western Kentucky and Murray State.
The Louisville Cardinals men’s and women’s basketball teams were honored for their seasons last night at the KFC/Yum Center. A near capacity crowd was on hand to hear comments from both coaches Rick Pitino and Jeff Walz, along with players from both teams and school administrators.
College Baseball: Southern Illinois defeated Austin Peay 10-9, with Murray State winning over Evansville 12-6.
College Softball: Murray State took a pair of games from Bethel 6-0 and 12-1. Former Christian County standout Casey Castile had hits in each game, including a home run in the second game.
Minor League Baseball: The Bowling Green Hot Rods wrapped up their series with Lansing with a 10-1 win. The Hot Rods are scheduled to open a series with West Michigan this evening at Bowling Green Ballpark.
The Nashville Sounds lost again to Oklahoma City 3-1, with the series finale scheduled for this evening at Greer Stadium.
