The Bowling Green Daily News citing multiple reports says Western Kentucky University is about to make an announcment concerning conference affiliation. Reports indicate WKU is set to announce plans to move to Conference USA beginning in 2014. The announcement could come as soon as Monday. WKU officials would not comment, but it appears the Hilltoppers will replace Tulsa, who has been rumored to be leaving CUSA for the new reincarnation of some of the members of the current Big East conference. WKU will spend one more season in the Sun Belt, then make the move in July, 2014. WKU will not have to pay the Sun Belt an exit fee since the announcement was made more than 12 months before its departure. However, the school will have to privately raise the $2 million fee to join CUSA. WKU's Board of Regents are expected to take up the matter at its quarterly meeting in April. WKU has been a member of the Sun Belt Conference since 1982 and has been a member of Football Bowl Subdivision since 2009.
