NCAA Basketball: The Louisville Cardinals will face Oregon in the Midwest Region Friday night in Indianapolis after defeating Colorado State Saturday. Oregon earned its berth after defeating St. Louis 74-57 Sunday.
The other game in Indy will feature Michigan State against Duke. The Blue Devils advance following a 66-50 win Sunday over Creighton.
Florida will face Florida Gulf Coast in the South Region Friday in Dallas. Florida earned its trip with a 78-64 win over Minnesota Sunday, while the 15th seeded Eagles defeated San Diego State 81-71. The other South region game has top seeded Kansas meeting Michigan. KU advanced with a 70-58 win over North Carolina Sunday.
Indiana got by Temple 58-52 to move on in the East Region to face Syracuse and Marquette will meet Miami, who defeated Illinois Sunday 63-59. Those games will be Thursday night in Washington, DC.
Arizona will meet Ohio State in West Region action Thursday in Los Angeles. The Buckeyes eeked out a 78-75 win over Iowa State Sunday. Wichita State will meet LaSalle who defeated Ole Miss 76-74 Sunday.
Women’s NCAA: Kentucky rolled over Navy 61-41 in Sunday’s opening round game of the Bridgeport regional in Queens, NY. The 28-5 Wildcats will next face Dayton Tuesday night. Dayton defeated St. John’s 96-90 in double overtime. You can hear the game at 5:45 on Lite 98.7.
Louisville won its opening round game in the NCAA tournament, defeating Middle Tennessee 74-49 and will face Purdue who defeated Liberty 77-43 Tuesday night at the KFC Yum Center in the 2nd round of the Oklahoma City regional.
Ohio Valley Conference champion UT Martin saw its season end with a 97-64 loss to Notre Dame Sunday in Iowa City. UT Martin finishes the season 19-15.
Tonight’s games include Tennessee meeting Creighton in the second round of the Oklahoma City regional, while Vanderbilt meets Connecticut in the second round of the Bridgeport regional.
Western Kentucky saw its season end in the WNIT Sunday, falling to Auburn 84-66. The Lady Toppers finished the season 22-11 under first year coach Michelle Clark-Heard.
College Football: Following the hiring of Kirby Cannon as its new coach, Austin Peay is finally ready to begin spring practice. Coach Cannon says he does not anticipate changing much of the system the Governors have in place offensively and defensively. Workouts will begin tomorrow according to the Leaf Chronicle.
NHL: The Nashville Predators go for their third win in as many games as they host the Edmonton Oilers this evening. Coverage of the game from Bridgestone Arena begins at 7 on News/Talk WHOP.
PGA Tour: A fierce storm wiped out the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational Sunday, with it to conclude today in Orlando. Tiger Woods has a three shot lead on Keegan Bradley, Ken Duke and John Huh early in the round.
Champions Tour: Michael Allen won his fourth Champions Tour event Sunday, taking the Mississippi Gulf Resort Invitational. Allen finished at 11 under par, one stroke better than Bernhard Langer. Paducah’s Russ Cochran tied for third at eight under par.
