College Football: Media reports out of Lexington indicate Neal Brown will be introduced as Kentucky’s new offensive coordinator at a news conference today. Kentucky Sports Radio.com is also reporting that two other former Wildcats will be joining Coach Mark Stoops’ staff. Chad Brown will be the new running backs coach and John Schlarman will come from Troy University as offensive line coach.
As WHOP reported this morning, two other coaches are expected to be hired possibly today: former Northwestern State head coach Bradley Dale Peveto will be the new defensive backs coach and former Tennessee assistant Darin Henshaw will be the new wide receivers coach.
The Bowling Green Daily News reported Sunday Western Kentucky interim football coach Lance Guidry has guided a school on an interim basis before. Guidry guided Miami of Ohio to a 35-21 win over Middle Tennessee in the 2011 GoDaddy.com bowl. Guidry will be WKU’s interim coach in the upcoming Little Caesar’s Bowl against Central Michigan.
NFL: Week 14 of the NFL season closes with Monday night's showdown in Foxboro,
where the Houston Texans will battle the New England Patriots in a heavyweight
bout. The Texans are 11-1 and will look to stake their claim as the team to
beat with a statement win. New England is 9-3 and, like Houston, is riding a
six-game winning streak that vaulted it to the AFC East title.
The Washington Redskins announced that starting quarterback Robert Griffin III
sustained a sprained right knee that kept the rookie standout out for the
final stages of Sunday's 31-28 overtime win over the Baltimore Ravens. X-rays taken following the game turned up negative for a tear, with Griffin's status for next Sunday's matchup at Cleveland to be determined later in the week. The Redskins are one
game behind the NFC East-leading Giants.
The Dallas Cowboys lineman accused in a deadly drunk driving crash that killed a teammate is now out of jail. Josh Brent's attorney, George Milner, says his client posted a 500-thousand-dollar bond on an intoxication manslaughter charge yesterday. Brent was arrested early Saturday after rolling his Mercedes in Irving. His passenger and teammate, Jerry Brown, was killed in the crash. Milner says Brent feels like he lost his brother and is having a hard time deal with the death of his best friend.
