Christian County High School basketball coach Josh Smith announced his resignation on Tuesday. According to a news release from the Christian County Board of Education, Smith cited health reasons for leaving his coaching and teaching position. Smith will be replaced on an interim basis for this season by top assistant Kyle Eades, who served under former coaches Kerry Stovall and Tyler Smithart. The Colonels open the basketball season Friday night at Montgomery Bell Academy.
The Board also announced in its release that softball assistant Greg Glass will coach the team on an interim basis in the spring of 2013. Glass worked under former head coach Jim Perrin, who recently passed away.

Girls Scores: Webster County over Hopkinsville 73-45, Fort Campbell defeated Trigg County 61-23, Todd Central over Clarksville Academy 57-23, Warren Central over Logan County 55-49, Butler County over Russellville 53-49 in overtime, Livingston Central got by Hopkins Central 39-37, Caldwell County defeated Lyon County 52-43, Graves County rolled over Heath 73-53, Paducah Tilghman over Calloway County 71-64, Union County over Crittenden County 47-27.

Kentucky returns to action tomorrow night in the SEC-Big East Challenge at Notre Dame, with coverage of the game at 4:30 on Lite 98.7.
Kentucky has hired Florida State defensive coordinator Mark Stoops to replace Joker Phillips. Stoops is the younger brother of Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops. Mark Stoops Florida State defense ranks in the top 10 in several defensive categories this season. Stoops is scheduled for a news conference Sunday in Lexington.
The Courier Journal reports a decision concerning Louisville leaving the Big East Conference for the Atlantic Coast Conference could come today. The ACC presidents and chancellors are holding a conference call this morning to discuss expansion and Louisville is believed to be the only school on the list.
Meanwhile, the Big East announced Tuesday that Tulane and East Carolina have agreed to join the conference once Rutgers departs in 2014.
NFL: Former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Chris Palmer tells the Tennessean he doesn’t feel the Titans offensive struggles can all be traced to him. Palmer said the Titans are in a transitional period with a second year quarterback in Jake Locker and several young players. The 21 year veteran coach was fired by the Titans Monday night.
Meanwhile, quarterback Jake Locker tells the Tennessean he is upbeat about the coordinator change to quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains. Locker also said that fired offensive coordinator Chris Palmer should not be made a scapegoat. He said the offensive unit as a whole has to get better.
