College Basketball: Austin Peay and Western Kentucky are both playing their third game of the Cancun Challenge today in Cancun. Austin Peay has an afternoon game with Western Carolina, while WKU has a game against the Iowa Hawkeyes this evening.
Also this evening, former Christian County standout Anthony Hickey and the LSU Tigers host Northwestern State in Baton Rouge.
Top 25 action this evening has top ranked Indiana meeting Georgetown in Brooklyn, NY, with the consolation game pitting UCLA against Georgia. 7th ranked Florida meets Savannah State, 9th ranked North Carolina meets Butler at the Maui Invitational, 19th ranked Michigan State meets Boise State and 20th ranked Cincinnati hosts Campbell.
Kentucky returns to action tomorrow night hosting Morehead State at 6, with pre game coverage from Rupp Arena at 4:30 on Lite 98.7. During his radio show last night, coach John Calipari stated guard Ryan Harrow could return to practice today. Harrow has yet to play a game this season due to a mysterious illness. Calipari also stated Harrow has lost seven pounds, and likely would not play against Morehead State.
Also tomorrow evening, the semifinals of the NIT Season Tip Off take place in New York as Delaware meets Kansas State and Pittsburgh meets Michigan. Coverage of both games begins at 5:45 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.
Rutgers University officials are expected to announce today they are leaving the Big East to join the Big 10. It would be the second school in as many days to join the league, as Maryland announced Monday they will leave the Atlantic Coast Conference, of which they are a charter member for the Big 10.
Meanwhile, Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino said at a news conference Monday Maryland’s decision to move to the Big 10 caught him off guard, but said if the ACC was interested in Louisville, they should go to the league.
Kentucky Sports Radio.com reports the rumored schools that may be considered to move to the ACC include Louisville, Cincinnati, South Florida and Connecticut.
