Monday’s High School Sports Schedule
Volleyball: Heritage Christian Academy plays at Clarksville Academy, Trigg County at Mayfield, Crittenden County at Hopkins Central, Webster County hosts Union County.
Boys Soccer: Christian County goes to Todd Central, Dawson Springs at Hopkins Central, Trigg County at Lyon County, Logan County at Warren East.
Girls Soccer: Dawson Springs at Hopkins Central
Golf: University Heights, Christian County and Henderson County play a quad match at Hopkinsville.
Football: Hopkinsville and Christian County played in the Toyota of Hopkinsville Jerry Claiborne Bowl at the Stadium of Champions. Hopkinsville lost to Lone Oak 48-13 and Christian County defeated Clarksville 38-27.
Both teams return to action Friday night, with Hopkinsville meeting Greenwood in the David Sadler Bowl in Cadiz at 5:30, with the Heritage Bank pre game at 5:06 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP. Christian County hosts Henderson County at 7, with the Heritage Bank pre game show at 6:35 on Lite 98.7.
Volleyball: Christian County reached the gold medal round of the Toyota of Hopkinsville/West Kentucky Smackdown before losing to Henderson County in the consolation round. University Heights won the bronze medal defeating Hopkinsville in the final.
Heritage Christian Academy rolled to a three sets to none win over Bluegrass Christian Academy.
Golf: University Heights swept both the boys and girls 2nd region All A Classic at Princeton Country Club. The Blazers shot 304, defeating Trigg County who had 316. Austin Knight finished second individually with a 72. The Blazers will play in the All A State Tournament September 8th at Eagles Nest in Somerset.
Lady Blazer Anna Moore was the medalist in the girls tournament with a 76 and will play at the All A State Tournament September 8th at Lincoln Homestead in Springfield.
Hopkinsville won the Christian County Invitational boys tournament at Western Hills Saturday with a team total of 306. Jack Gardner and Dylan Henderson tied for second individually with 74, but Gardner won in a scorecard playoff. Christian County finished at 347, good for 7th place. Colonel TJ Ferry was the individual winner with a one over 73.
College Football: The regular season begins across the nation this week, including Kentucky at Louisville next Sunday. Coach Joker Phillips will talk about the upcoming season on his weekly talk show at 5 this evening on Lite 98.7, to be followed by Big Blue Weekly at 6. The game airs beginning at 1 next Sunday afternoon on Lite 98.7.
Other games this week include Murray State at Florida State and Western Kentucky hosting Austin Peay on Saturday.
LLWS: One day after winning the United States championship, the Goodlettsville, TN team lost its only game in the Little League World Series, falling to Japan in a 5 inning run rule game 12-2. Goodlettsville finished the LLWS 4-1.
