The Cincinnati Enquirer reports Cincinnati Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto is considering appealing his snub for the upcoming All Star game in Kansas City. National League manager Tony LaRussa said he left Cueto off the roster because he was starting on Sunday before the Midsummer Classic next Tuesday. Cuteo’s agent has reportedly contacted the MLB players association about filing a grievance.
Meanwhile, Reds outfielder Joey Votto might miss the All Star game next Tuesday in Kansas City. CBS Sports.com reports Votto is still bothered by a lingering sore left knee. Votto missed only his third start of the season on Monday and says he doesn’t want to risk banging up the knee more because of the All Star game.
The New Orleans Times Picayune reports suspended New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton and his wife Beth have filed divorce papers. The proceedings reportedly began in Texas last week. Payton was suspended for a year by the NFL for his role in the Saints bounty scandal, which is costing him some $5.5 million dollars in salary this season.
