Hopkinsville’s Dayton Jones fired a two day total of 140, good for 6th place at the Murray Country Club Invitational over the weekend. Murray State golfer Patrick Newcomb won the tournament in a playoff after firing a two day total of 137. Hopkinsville’s Lee Crawford finished 5th in the event.
Jones will play in the Golfweek Junior Midwest Region Spring Tour Championship which begins Saturday at the University Club in Lexington.
University of Kentucky baseball coach Gary Henderson has been selected as Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year. The Wildcats were predicted to finish 10th in the SEC this season, however Henderson guided the team to a regular season school record 41 wins.
The Wildcats, who spent much of the season ranked in the top five, open play in the SEC Tournament against Ole Miss tomorrow in Hoover, Alabama.
Major League Baseball tonight has St. Louis hosting San Diego, Cincinnati entertaining Atlanta and Chicago at Houston.
St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Lance Berkman is on the 15 day disabled list after suffering an injury to his right knee while stretching to receive the throw on a ground out in Los Angeles Saturday night.
Neither Berkman nor the Cardinals have offered any information on the extent of the injury according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch. Berkman is scheduled for an MRI today in St. Louis.
Two games in the NBA playoffs have Philadelphia at Boston and the LA Lakers at Oklahoma City.
One game in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs has the New York Rangers at New Jersey.
