Princeton’s Emma Talley will play in this year’s US Women’s Open Golf Championship. The Princeton Times Leader reports Talley qualified for this year’s event during play Monday at Bellingham Golf and Country Club in Bellingham, Washington. Talley shot two rounds of 71 for a 142 total. This year’s US Women’s Open will be held at Blackwolf Run in Kohler, Wisconsin June 5-8.
Talley played in last year’s US Women’s Open and missed the cut by three strokes. Talley will play her collegiate golf this fall at the University of Alabama.

A preliminary hearing has been set for June 4th for former Kentucky basketball player Michael Porter. The 25-year-old Porter was arrested Tuesday on sexual abuse and sodomy charges. Kentucky Sports Radio.com reports there is only one victim, a 14-year-old girl Porter met at a church function in 2009. The report also indicates the two engaged in consensual sex acts when she was 14 and 15.
Porter entered a not guilty plea to the charges and was released to a third party after posting a 22-thousand dollar bond. The court ordered Porter to wear an ankle monitor and not to leave the state.
New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker will join his teammates in workouts after signing his tender offer from the club. Welker, who was slapped with the franchise tag in March, will earn $9.4 million this season. Welker led the NFL with 122 receptions for a Patriots record 1,569 yards and a career best nine touchdowns last season.
